Our Christian Distinctiveness

Our strong Christian distinctiveness is recognised as providing a unique commitment to nurturing and valuing all God’s children in our community. We encourage all to learn about the Christian faith but recognise that becoming a Christian is a personal choice of faith and we are respectful of each other’s beliefs.
We were judged ‘Excellent’ in all areas in our latest SIAMS report
  • This school offers all learners an outstanding curriculum which reflects the adventure of learning and the Christian distinctiveness of the school
  • The quality of relationships between adults and children makes this school an exceptionally happy and secure place for learners
  • Collective worship is approached enthusiastically by children and adults alike and fulfils its purpose in drawing the school community together in the presence of God
  • The leadership of the Head teacher and the Governors has enabled the school to offer a sound understanding of Religious Education and Collective Worship to young learners as a gateway to a spiritual world into which they may venture with confidence.

We have close links with Holy Trinity Church. We are lucky to be able to use this fantastic space for Collective Worship, Harvest, Christmas, Easter and Leavers’ Services as well as our PE lessons!

Their Team Leader for Youth and Children’s Ministry regularly volunteers in school and  organises and leads multi-sensory activity days within school. These have included ‘Prayer Spaces’ the ‘Lord’s Prayer’ and the Christian symbol of the Icthus as part of the annual global prayer event ‘Thy Kingdom Come’.

Once a week members of various church communities within Southwell lead our Collective Worship using ‘Open the Book’ to help us to explore the big picture of the Bible.

We enjoy joining in with craft at ‘Signpost’ on a monthly basis as well as joining them for Collective Worship and leading them in worship regularly. Class 1 also enjoy regularly lead the singing sessions at ‘Trinity Toddlers’.
